Things to do during your holidays near Chlorakas area

There are a lot of things you can do during your holidays in Paphos. As our holiday apartments are located at Chlorakas area, half the way between Paphos and Kato Paphos area and Pegeia and Coral Bay area, most of these are just a few minutes, maybe less that twenty – thirty minutes drive away. Some of our suggestions:

  • A morning coffee at Kato Paphos harbour is one of the things you should definetely do! Also, a visit to a local taverna to taste our cuisine. Ask for meze, you will get more than 10 – 15 different dishes, an excellent way to taste everything!
  • If you like active holidays, then there are a few excellent golf courses near our apartments. Or visit the Akamas National Park and walk the Avakas Gorge. Or make water sports on any of the many organized beaches in the area. Paphos has a lot of blue flag beaches, an award given by the European Union, stating that a specific beach offers clear and safe waters and many standard services. Or just visit Coral Bay beach, one of the best beaches in Cyprus (and not only) about ten minutes drive away for a bath in the crystal clear Mediterranean waters!
  • You may also visit the Paphos town market where you can buy many traditional products – or just walk around. If you are a nature lover, then dedicate half or a full day to visit the Troodos mountains. The region offers beautiful villages in a green environment. Many villages offer traditional products and there are many restaurants to eat. Also there are many wineries which you may visit if you like wine tasting. Wine tasting is also available in Paphos area, as there are many wineries in Paphos area as well.
  • If you are on family holidays, there is a water park at Kato Paphos where you can spend an unforgettable day. Another excellent idea is to visit the Paphos Zoo. The zoo is located at Pegeia area, near Coral Bay.

Sightseeing / places to visit during your holidays in Paphos Cyprus

Paphos, with thousands of years of history and tradition, offers a lot of choices to the visitors. Kato Paphos Archaeological Park and Tombs of the Kings, both Unesco World Heritage sites, really deserve a visit. Kato Paphos harbour, one the area’s halmarks, is also a place to visit. There is an ancient castle in the harbour area which you can visit and the Archaeological park is just next to the harbour. There are many restaurants and cafes, where you can eat or enjoy a beer of cold drink just next to the sea.

There are many monasteries and other religious places to visit. Three of them i would like to mention are the Saint Paul’s pillar where, Saint Paul during his visit to Paphos was tied and received 39 (forty but one) lashes for evangelising Christianity on the island. The other two, Saint Neophytos monastery and Panagia Chrysorrogiatissa monastery, are both monasteries with history dating back more than a thousand years each, also well worth visiting.

According to tradition, Aphrodite, the ancient goddess of beauty, was born in Paphos area, so there are many places to visit that are connected with Aphrodite. Three places we suggest are Petra tou Romiou (Aphrodite’s birthplace), The Temple of Aphrodite at Kouklia village and Aphrodite’s Baths at Polis Chrysochous. All of them combine tradition with visits to beautiful places.

Cyprus, located in the eastern Mediterranean, is the ideal place for your holidays. Combining endless sunny days, wonderful sandy beaches, state of the art infrastructure, ancient history and tradition, has become one of the premium tourist destinations in Europe.
